So I was recently on the podcast The Feed From Geek Mountain hosted by ShoryukenPizza (my old roommate from Chicago) and Jacuuzi to plug my book XENOCHRIST (please buy my book) and talk some shit while also having a 2 hour long discussion about one of my favorite games, Final Fantasy VII: Remake and how it lives up to the OG game (I mean…have you seen the OG?)
Now, I’m sure y’all are wondering (no you’re not) why I wanted to even do this aside from trying to rope people into purchasing my book (please buy my book) considering I’ve already talked about FF7:R a few months back. Well, it’s such an interesting and fun game that I felt compelled to defend it against ShoryukenPizza’s shit take on it, because I watched him play for about an hour and let me tell you he’s garbage at it. All seriousness aside (that’s all a joke, don’t worry Shoryuken ily ❤ ) he had some valid points to make, but thankfully I have even more valid points which desperately needed saying. Anyway, if you’d like to hear my 2 hour diatribe you can find it here.
Their podcasts aren’t typically that long, but I’m thankful they entertained my incoherent babbling. If you’d like to support these awesome dudes and their love of anime and gaming you can find them on Twitch and Facebook where they stream live, and you can get updates over on their Instagram too!
Well, tomorrow XENOCHRISTgoes live on Kindle in every region, and paperback is available now in the US at least until the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, after the lift you’ll be able to purchase a paperback copy worldwide!
In other news, you can now grab sweet XENOCHRIST gear over at on my Threadless store! There’s some sick stuff in there like the following:
If you haven’t noticed already I’ve made a few updates to my “Works In Progress” section regarding “The Brainkiller”; namely I’ve changed the title. “Lord of Poison” will be the same story and setting as the novel formerly known as “The Brainkiller”. This change came after discussing with my good friend and XENOCHRIST cover artist Brian aka Brain Killer with what the next book’s title should be. The novel’s plot will still involve our protagonist artist Velouria seeking the artist named BRAIN///KILLER, but we’ve added some changes to keep the two brands separate.
I settled on the title “Lord of Poison” as it’s a reference to an artist I’ve been heavily influenced by, Mexican social realist painter David Alfaro Siqueiros, and his 1918 piece titled “The Lord of Poison” which is referenced in my novel. The story behind the painting itself has several versions but all of them involve a priest here in Mexico who would kiss the Corpus Christi and the feet were poisoned by someone to assassinate said priest. The legend is the feet of the statue moved inward to keep the priest from kissing the statue, and in another version, the icon itself absorbed the poison thus the statue turning black.
My expected time for finishing everything, writing, editing etc is Spring 2021 and will probably have the same release window as XENOCHRIST. For now you can follow my blog and my social medias for any updates!
XENOCHRIST by N.H. Weber (that’s me!) releases June 25th and is available for pre-order right now! Click here to do all that!
A full year from start to finish. I began the re-writing project towards the end of June, finished writing early in 2020, and finished editing in April. I couldn’t be more excited and happy with all of this, with Brain Killer’s cover, the commercial from VoiceoverPete, and the incredible music from Casket Robbery and Evergreen. I also want to thank everyone who has supported and believed in this and encouraged me to keep writing.
I hope you enjoy the spot, and when XENOCHRIST launches June 25th I really hope you enjoy it too!
June 2020. That’s this year! I have a date to go live, but I’m just waiting to make the announcement for that. It’s incredible to think that a full year has passed since going back to re-write, edit, write some more, edit even more, and finally get everything together.
When I make the full-date announcement there will be a lot of new information to go with it, so I’m just making sure all of my ducks are in a row before saying a date that could potentially change. So, until then please accept this book cover teaser. The cover is designed by my close friend and incredible Chicago-based artist Brain Killer.
